A whole new universe

So this takes place post Infinity War, a universe changed beyond comprehension by Thanos. How can this not be Infinity War part 2. How do you make this about something other than making the universe right again? I love Paul Rudd's Ant-Man but if it's just him, Evangeline Lilley and Michael Pena doing funny stuff I'll be really pissed off.

i think this movie takes place before Infinity War and after Clivil War.

That's not a great idea. They can't draw in new audiences if it won't make any sense without having seen "Infinity Wars" or the other Marvel films, and the need to know what's going on in a ton of other films will diminish the movie's rewatching value as well.

Ideally, every Marvel film should be able to stand on its own, in case someone new to the genre comes in. If they're going to drop that idea, they're getting careless.

Can't it take place parallel to Infinity War?

Ant-Man is set in San Fran right?

He and Wasp could be in the middle of something properly serious when the New York thing happens. It gets noted but they can't divert from their current resolve and by the time they can Thanos is wiping out half the universe ergo time to get extra small and escape that end themselves.

Ok. I just saw the movie. You win. Very close.

I see a new trailer is out to tomorrow which mentions the Infinity War. It makes sense that the initial trailer made no reference to the universe changing events of Avengers 3 but the new one can. Just 3 and a half weeks to wait as well.

Well said Tanya but wrong. This film takes place two years after the events of Civil War. The consequences for Scott of being part of Team Cap are made very clear, The film ENDS as Thanos carries out his diabolical scheme for the Universe.
