Is this really going to do well at the box office?

I'm seeing some crazy predictions for this film, but the thought of seeing it makes me want to throw up. It's got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes too, so the payoffs must have been going out. Sad.

The only thing sad is movie "fans" like you.

You do realize that if it weren't for the Chinese, this movie would have flopped overseas?

You do realize you're wrong, right?

Even IF you took off the 200 million it made in China over the weekend, it still made back its production budget in 3 DAYS! If you add in China it has already doubled its production budget.

reply

The production budget is $250 million and the general rule is that a movie needs to double its production budget just to break even.

reply

Which it did in 3 days. A movie has to double its production budget to cover the marketing costs, depending on how much they spend on marketing. As I said, it made back its production budget in just 3 days even without China. Add in China and it has now successfully broke even on production AND marketing in only 3 days, which is rare, and near impossible for a sequel on its 8th incarnation. Barring Star Wars or Marvel Universe stuff, no basic movie series has ever pulled in these numbers.

Just so you don't mistake me for a fan, I only saw the first one last week and saw the new one last night. I haven't seen any of the ones in between, though I didn't feel like I missed anything!

$500 mil in 3 days is pretty freaky deaky! All the movies are pretty much carbon copies except with different stunts and different actors. I think 5, 6 and 8 are the best in the franchise so far. I haven't heard any rumors if they are going to make another one yet.

reply

Yeah, there are definitely plans to make more of these, especially now considering this movie is hovering around Star Wars money territory. I've already heard plans for a 9 and 10 are in development already.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here- https://youtu.be/4xfnsgokSQk

What you and some would call carbon copy I look at as "Staying in their lane", no pun intended.

Different and BIGGER stunts is one of the charms of the franchise and the different actors, at least Johnson and Statham, were brought simply cause Vin asked fans on his social media who they wanted to see added and BOOM! they were cast.

The F&F fanbase is stronger than most think.
