Yeah. I don't mind the new change of setting. The Real Ghostbusters episodes Drool the Dogfaced Goblin, No one goes to Lupisville, The Hole in the Wall Gang, Ghost fight at the OK Coral, and Ghostbuster of the year all take place outside New York. I just hope Peter, Ray, or Winston gives those kid a lecture about how driving while underage is wrong and also give them a lecture about how proton packs aren't toys.

A new edition to the franchise needed younger talent because Harold Ramis is no longer around and the other guys are too old.

The new characters are similar to the Junior Ghostbusters from the cartoon two boy and a girl, one of the boys looks Asian and has spiky hair, the girl has short hair but doesn't have glasses like McKenna Grace, the other boy has glasses.

Well the thing is they waited too long to make another movie to the point where Ramis is no longer around, the other guys are too old, a new instalment needed to be a new invention with new characters and the filmmakers knew it.

To carry on the franchise they needed at least one transitional movie, where the old guard is handing off the family business to a new generation. While they're still around and not too old to be believable. Of course it would be nice to keep them around as long as they're willing to stick it out.

Just because they cast Finn Wolfhard doesn't mean they're trying to cash in on Stranger Things. We'll have to see the movie first to know whether that's the case.

It's not big stretch to assume that the producers are cashing in on the Stranger Things connection. It also makes sense as you attract a core audience that is probably fans of both. Although I think it rings with unoriginality and dare I say "fanservice"?

Although I'm not really a big fan, I think redoing the story and having it take place in NYC again with most of the original cast and have a generational connection using Adam Sandler playing the son of the late Dr Spengler would have been truer to the movie's legacy.

We'll have to see where they take it. That godawful flop in 2016 was easy to move past because the old characters weren't a part of it - it doesn't exist, it never existed, everyone involved is fired! 😳

Your idea for a sequel was exactly the sort of thing they should've done back in the 90's. If they're going to do any more Ghostbusters films, or (who knows) maybe a streaming series, this one is going to have to connect with fans both old and new. Let's hope they get it right! It's not an easy formula. Horror action comedy that's serious and menacing enough to create tension, yet also funny enough to make you laugh - without becoming too goofy.

A proper sequel set in NY needed to be made way back in the 90's or early 2000's, can't do a Extreme Ghostbusters type hand off since it's been thirty years between Ghostbusters movies so they had to go a different route like Egon's grandkids finding their own equipment.

2016 is now one of those remakes that infuriates people over it's existence, it's like the Nightmare On Elm Street remake or Total Recall remake where everyone is like "No no you fucked it up or your doing it all wrong".

The OG cast are too old to be the leads, when you go over 60 and nearing 70 your not hired as much as you were use to.

These movies don't involve a lot of rappelling down from helicopters, jumping cars between buildings, and running toward the camera in slo mo. It's not Fast & Furious 27 (or whatever they're up to now). The Ghostbusters use their brains and their toys.

Of course you could get a little mileage out of the back pain, I'm gettin' too old for this shit humor - as long as you don't overdo it. If they made a streaming series followup to this movie and the older cast members stayed on they'd be in more of a supporting role, running the lab and figuring out what they needed to do to defeat the evil of the week, with the kids doing most of the physically demanding stuff.

I don't know if Bill Murray would even agree to do TV. If he did, Venkman would spend most of his time with the young apprentices in the field though. Because he's not really a sitting in the lab tech support kind of guy.

It's for the best. Most people are tired of things set in NY or LA. Most people don't share New Yorker's self-adoration.

Most classic horror films are set in remote locations anyway. There are things they can do with this one that just wouldn't work in a big city environment.

I like seeing the ambulance now used in action. It wouldn't work right seeing in a city.Maybe a new trailer I hope it has will really bring out that now with the new cast a small town movie is the best way to do it.
