uh what? you can't do what he did. he's actually in a remake of shaft??? wtf???!!!

that is against movie rules. you can't just make a remake of a movie and have the actor who played the main character in a movie play the main character in your remake.

I remember being puzzled after first seeing that a European director is making a dumbed-down remake of his own movie for an American market. But... it is a thing now.

in the case of funny games i think it worked, the american version was great and the original is a classic.

There are no rules. There are only movies.

Heck, Judy Dench was M in the Brosnan Bonds and (some of) the Daniel Craig "reboot" Bonds. That's a series, by the way, that's been going since the '60s, changing lead actors seven times, including on switch-off where Connery was Bond, then Lazenby, then Connery again. There's also a non-EON Bond remake of Thunderball starring Connery again (which went up against a Roger Moore Bond in the same year).

What rules?
