Fact check ?

An error on last weeks show. Axe says that Harry Houdini died while performing the water trick...NOT true !......he died from a burst appendix when a fan punched him in the stomach and he wasn't ready for it. Common knowledge.

reply

Yep I noticed that as well, I thought, no researchers on this show

reply

Pretty glaring error from a show that’s so manifestly smug about its “smart” dialogue.

Hell, the writers don’t need researchers. They know everything!

^This 100%
I see the writers in nearly every single character other than the "muscle" characters. The regular injections of obscure pop culture references that I recognize used to help me endure the times my wife would request that I watch the show with her. Now she's had enough as well.

reply

I thought it was a bit silly that every main character was a similar pop culture and movie expert. It was same kind of turn off for me like Quentin Tarantino's early scripts/movies where everybody talked the same cool talk.

reply

^ More truth. But I confess to loving Reservoir Dogs and being immune to QT personality drift for the first half of his career.

reply

Since when Axelrod is supposed to be the definitive source of info on Harry Houdini?

reply

Was the purpose of the line to show that he is flawed? So far, everyone's lines have been crafted to show how brilliant they are and how everyone is MDLVII moves ahead of everyone else.

reply

I don't know, haven't seen the latest season yet... but you may be right.

reply

It's actually not clear if the punches themselves caused the appendix rupture. Some speculate that it was coincidental timing, but that the pain from the blows to his stomach caused him to not seek realize what it was right away.
