So why did more than just living things get decimated?

Bucky's arm isn't a living thing and wasn't required for life for him so why did that get decimated?

Their clothes also, that made no sense to me.

reply

It's weird. I assume his prosthetic arm as well as everyone else's clothing disintegrated because it was a part of them. It's also convenient for when they are revived, they will be wearing their clothes.

reply

I was mistaken. Bucky's weapon didn't decimate after the snap. In one scene with Cap kneeling down it's not shown but it was clearly off to the side when Bucky disintegrated to the ground.

Never mind!

reply

I had to do a double take myself because I didn't remember if Bucky's machine gun disintegrated or not.

reply

As mentioned above, the objects faded because they’re part of their identity.

Anthony Russo:

Whatever was elemental to somebody’s presence went with them.

Who is anyone to dispute the Laws of Decimation as stated by The Russo Brothers! But his weapon wasn't an elemental part of Bucky and his identity, the replacement arm is only if the Russo's say so. :-)

What about that vial of KY Lubricant that Wanda has in her coat pocket for Vision on those intimate moments? Uh, scratch that and you know I am just kidding!

Another vague Russo brother answer incoming...

You know how the Russo's misdirect don't you?

It was on the night stand in their opening scene. Ten years from now there will be a full disclosure from the Russos they snuck tons of naughty bits into their movies. :-)

Right now the timing isn't right. Too soon.

Because it is a PG13 movie and you can’t have a crowd of naked people coming back from the dead by the end of this movie.

Maybe they should all come back in the water. Kind of like a rebirth from the birth canal or a reversal baptismal into life? Didn't Thanos wake-up in water with the Stone in his hand?
