I like when this happens. A certain actor skyrockets after starring in a hit movie and then everything goes back to normal.
shareAh yes... the summer of Brolin as they’re calling it. No other actors around? Man, Brolin has EARNED this shining moment.
Before Avengers and Deadpool, Brolin was never known for starring in big franchise movies... apart from one or maybe two exceptions. But for the most part, he’s made a name for himself by starring in [insert films that greatly appeal more to the academy here], so the fact that an exceptionally talented actor like him is currently making waves in very popular - critically acclaimed - movies is basically nice to see. And of course, despite the mixed reception Sicario 2 is proving to be a hit at the box office in its own right as well.
So, this is Brolin’s moment and he deserves it alright. He has been in the biz for a long time and, although he has always been a recognizable actor, he is now a bonafide star. FINALLY he can happily say that his legacy won’t be The Goonies after all! Lol. Nothing wrong with his Goonies following but it’s great that he added another character and performance (more than one!) to his resume that he’s certain to be bothered about all the time. :D In closing, safe to say his riveting performance as Thanos is already seen as iconic.
I don't care about him. Which is not to say I don't care FOR him, I just really don't care what happens to or in his career.
And I am sure there are plenty of deserving actors.
That’s fair. Whatever happens to his career isn’t a great concern of mine, either. That said, I see him as one of the finer actors of his generation and I personally wouldn’t want him to stop getting noteworthy roles as long as he continues to prove himself as the best man for the job (arguably). I mean if he is “nabbing” great parts and keeps exceeding in them, then who’s to say he isn’t worthy to star in these big movies?
Perhaps there are more deserving actors in his age group, but I just know Brolin’s casting in these Marvel films worked out for the best. And like I previously mentioned, it’s not like he has been starring in blockbusters throughout his career.
