Real eye-rolling moment for me

"When the big bang occurred, six elemental crystals were created."

Yeah, right.

I'm willing to accept superhero powers in a comic book movie, but when they mix it with real-world astronomy and physics, I think that's pushing it too far.

reply

Okay, they've been putting those stupid crystals into movie after movie.

If they ever need to explain their existence, better to do it with a throwaway line than some long, convoluted, even more ridiculous explanation.

reply

Why are you expecting real world physics in a superhero movie?

reply

Gamma radiation doesn't make hulks, either. Gamma radiation just destroys everything.

reply

All the line does is acknowledge the Big Bang. Since the Big Bang created everything, there's really nothing scientific about it. It's not going into any detail how they were created.

What's way more eye-rolling to me is that if there were only 6 stones created by the Big Bang, how did all six happen to be floating around the Milky Way and Andromeda considering the massive size of the universe.

Here's an idea how big the universe is:

For all we know there are trillions of stones, but these 6 may just be the ones in our Local Group. Also, Thanos' finger snap may only apply to the Local Group. There'd be no way for us to tell.

Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started... wait!
The earth began to cool
The autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall (we built the pyramids)
Math, science, history
Unraveling the mysteries
That all started with the big bang!

reply

Oh, FUCK OFF, Frogarama! Don't you dare quote that crappy TV show at me!

reply

BAZINGA!

EXACTLY, Dlancer, that was my second major grievance of this movie. The moviemakers always have to massively downplay the significance of "the universe", or they think they and their audience's heads would explode!
