Question about the post credit scene

Can anyone tell me what it was that Nick Fury was connecting to... what was the significance here??

reply

Captain Marvel's logo. Her film is out next March set in the 90s and will feature a twin eyed Fury with hair. She will also appear in the next Avengers movie next year.

Some say she is Marvel's Superman.....so she will be joining the Avengers to bring down Thanos.

Pretty sure she will be leading The Avengers in the movie after that I'd guess around 2022 replacing Captain America who will probably die in the next one.

I really don't hope they make her eclipse Thor in power... Sure, roughly equal is fine, but we dont need a new "now I'm the most powerful" character.

If they pull a "JL Superman > Everyone scenario" with Captain Marvel on this, I'm gonna be pissed - but hey, they already reduced the Hulk to a punching back, only working as a gimmick to make others look powerful...

I thought what they did to Hulk was interesting and really set up how bad ass Thanos is. He'll be back in the next movie for his Thanos showdown.

Captain Marvel will replace Thor as he will either die or more likely be busy rebuilding Asgard or whatever. I don't read the comics.

Completely agree and to me what they did with Hulk in this movie demonstrates how patient the MCU is in giving fans what they want. We all wanted Bruce to turn into Hulk by the end but them holding off will ultimately make for a better payoff down the road.

Let's hope... But I'm not optimistic about it (also read some spoilers on reddit). Hulk has been a punching bag after the first Avengers, where he was actually a powerhouse who was "respected/feared" - but now he's used solely to show how awesome others are: Hulk vs Hulkbuster, Hulk vs Thor and now Hulk vs Thanos - he needs an epic moment that actually packs a punch (pun intended).

I mean, they could have shown Thanos take Thor down instead, as Hulk getting beaten has gotten old already - and Thor rocked in Ragnarok. ;)

Thanos was badass in himself and his feats throughout the movie. Also, movie was great - really liked it - just this really rubbed me the wrong way. ;)

I am totally with you with HULK. They bitched him down, and I don't like that. I liked though the Banner/HULK dynamic here and all that, even that Thanos fought him in the beginning. A good way to introduce to us his badassness. But they made that bitchslapping fight way to easy. Thanos should have fought him still, but at one point his minions would join in, and in the brawl they get him blasted into space... and then Heimdall sends him to Earth....

Unless they drastically increased her power level over the last 20 years (which, I guess, is possible), she is nowhere near being in Superman's league (and I say this as a die-hard Marvel fan).

Marvel's Superman is probably this guy:

Or, in the alternative, this guy:

ah ok. as i said i don't read comic books lol

reply

No worries. That's why I provided the explanation--because you said you don't read the comic books.

He was sending a distress signal to Carol Danvers... aka CAPTAIN MARVEL! Fury’s pager/device showed her symbol. And just right before her symbol appeared, I knew it was going to be her he was trying to contact.

Anyway, she’s the most powerful MCU hero yet to come (Kevin Feige’s words). She was originally going to appear in Infinity War but they decided she should debut in her own film, which will feature a younger Nick Fury. I’m 100% certain that by the end of Captain Marvel we’ll be seeing her get Fury’s message, meaning she’ll be appearing in Avengers 4.

reply

Captain Marvel is supposed to take place in the 1990s which would explain why Fury is contacting her through a beeper. That was probably the last time they spoke before she went off to outer space.

If that's true it'll be interesting to see if they come up with a reason why he didn't message her back in 2012.

Space beeper!

reply

Yeah, my thoughts when he dropped it were that's a funky looking beeper.

reply

it's a pager? very 90s and probably 80s too.

reply

Or perhaps it is a time pager, or dimension pager.... She may be kicking it in some future time and so why she was no help in 2012....and time travel aspects will come in handy in the next chapter
