reply

reply

That's the world today...

reply

Im pissed chantal got hit! Loved her.

reply

Eh, with that crunching she was doing I kind of wanted to kill her myself.

reply

Lol noooo...i love a bitch that can wield a gun! (calamity jane is my idol)

reply

I loved Chantelle too but she did go out in a very Chantelle way
she was down to her last bag of cheetos anyway
the last fucking bag

reply

Lmao right you are! Thanks, i do find comfort in these truths.

reply

life was not worth living once the cheetos are all gone

That scene seemed like a Tarantino tribute. And the junk food: Kyle MacLachlan in this recent podcast interview said Lynch and Frost use good and bad food as a metaphor for the state of things: https://food52.com/blog/19729-what-the-food-in-twin-peaks-means-to-kyle-maclachlan-26-years-later

reply

I just can't read into every scene like that. Sucks the fun out of it. A bag of cheetos won't be the death of you kids! Pretty cool hutch went out like scarface, i liked that.

reply

The 'good' characters seem to live on pie and coffee, while the bad characters live on fast food and cheetos.
So does he think cherry pie and donuts and coffee are health food?
Even Norma's all local all organic food is still diner food...

reply

He thinks "bad cop. No donut." hehe

reply

Well the evil food is creamed corn.

Something tells me that gentleman's true occupation is not accountant.

I had the idea he might be a gangster in the witness protection program or something, but then he'd be more downlow, trying to not attract attention to himself, etc. He was seemingly unworried about attention or consequences or anything.
I really think he was just a Walter Mitty type accountant who just dealt with too much shit in everyday life, and had all this impotent rage built up, so the driveway thing was the last straw and he snapped and went postal.
It was probably also making a commentary on how so many Americans are armed and they can just snap from road rage or whatever and go on a killing spree. I mean in this case he actually killed bad guys but he didn't know that.

It's also yet another deus ex machina that protects Dougie/Good Coop. Every time someone is out to get him or someone sets him up for harm, something random happens and Coop ends up safe and better off. Like the insurance guy set him up to get whacked by the casino guys, but instead they are his buddies now and will do whatever he says.

All excellent comments, Pop. But in the accountant's defense I don't really think he snapped. Chantelle did take a shot at him, so he was just defending himself. And he seemed very calm. I think he's just a person that you don't want to mess with.

And you're right, Coop/Dougie does seem to lead a charmed life in the Lynch Universe.

Maybe it's just me. but if someone took a shot at me and missed, I would get the hell out of there and call the cops.
But this guy happened to have a large caliber gun with armor piercing bullets in his trunk. That is some heavy artillery for a civilian. I think it's kind of a commentary on how many guns are in this country and how any minor skirmish can turn into a firefight. But it's also not really saying that's a bad thing, since the people who got killed were assassins.
The accountant will still spend the rest of his life in jail though, even though Chantelle took the first shot, I don't know if self defense is a valid defense here. He had time to go into his trunk, so he could have just driven away and called the police.

reply

I would too, but our account wasn't going to take any shit. He might do some time, but I don't think it will be the rest of his life. I think it was self defense.
