Expect lots of SJW outrage! IMDb storyline:

USA in the 1970s. We follow the highly intelligent Jack over a span of 12 years and are introduced to the murders that define Jack's development as a serial killer. We experience the story from Jack's point of view, while he postulates each murder is an artwork in itself. As the inevitable police intervention is drawing nearer, he is taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork. Along the way we experience Jack's descriptions of his personal condition, problems and thoughts through a recurring conversation with the unknown Verge - a grotesque mixture of sophistry mixed with an almost childlike self-pity and psychopathic explanations. The House That Jack Built is a dark and sinister story, yet presented through a philosophical and occasional humorous tale. Written by Zentropa Entertainments

Working here via the soft-spoken avatar of Matt Dillon's title character, von Trier orchestrates a methodical display of sadistic violence against women, even bumping off two young boys for good measure, then subjecting their devastated mother to a gruesome family picnic before ending her misery. There's nothing like the coldly detached killing of children to spark waves of walkouts.

It seems a direct FU to the current climate of reckoning over gender bias and sexual misconduct when the unrepentant Jack bemoans the misfortune of being born male and therefore guilty, asking: "Why is it always the men's fault?" He even goes as far as saying women make more cooperative victims: "Easier to work with."

Seven years ago, Lars von Trier was drummed out of Cannes for joking in a press conference that he sympathised with Hitler. Last night he came back, persona non grata status rescinded, with a film whose hero claims to sympathise with – well, have a guess.

More controversy from yesterday's US premiere.

Screening of Lars von Trier's 'The House That Jack Built' Violates MPAA Ratings Rules (Exclusive) https://www.imdb.com/news/ni62295434

Lars von Trier is nothing if not controversial. In the latest twist, IFC Films is facing sanctions by the MPAA movie ratings board for screening an unrated director's cut of his new film The House That Jack Built on Wednesday night without getting the appropriate waiver.

The unrated version is playing for one night only in select theaters in more than 100 cities across the country. On Dec. 14, an R-rated version of the movie — about a serial killer who mutilates his victims, including women and children. ...

Stunning! I had to take a break about 2/3 of the way through because, erm, I wasn’t sure I really wanted to see what I was about to see. Turns out it wasn’t too bad and if I’d just stuck it out, I would’ve seen one of the most excellent endings ever, sooner. It’s the kind of film I wouldn’t really want to recommend, but, yet, you’ve gotta see it, if you catch my drift...

I would recommend it to anyone who likes

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) (of course)
C'est arrivé près de chez vous (1992)
IZO (2004)

Expect shouts of “SJW”, from people who don’t like other people having different opinions!

Oh and LVT’s movie has a male character, who claims men are always being blamed? Because those allegations made against creepy Lars really stopped his career 🤨

Funny that the quote also comes from a guy who hurts women. LVT has serious issues.

“Why are men always guilty” as he has tied up a woman who did nothing wrong and is about to torture her after he bragged about murdering over 60 people. He went out shouting about it in public and then made a point about how no one will save his victims. Seems like the point is more that no one believes women in need because men are the REAL victims.
