Caution Tape

Do we know why the tape was ever placed there in the first place? Evidently it was something not that bad if Madeleine was always so confident in ripping it off.

Also, what sort of connection do you think they were trying to make about the fact that there was already caution tape on the stairs before someone was killed there?

Yeah it was like some sort of weird foreshadowing. I was always wondering why she had to rip that down too when it didn't look like anything was wrong with them. Very odd.

Presumably the stairway was considered unsafe, crumbling or something.

The railing was broken. It's what Perry landed/was impaled on.
