Any Tim Burton fans going?

Despite that the target audience is for little kids. Tim might have made the movie a little freaky like he normally does with his movies.

I'm having this conversation with someone right now.

I want to take my nephew (it would be weird to go by myself). I'm a huge Tim Burton fan, and I tend to see all his films at the cinema (Alice in Wonderland was an exception, and, in hindsight, a wise choice on my part). But my nephew is only four and a half, and he's a lot more hyperactive than I was at that age. I'm not sure if he'd sit down still for a two hour live-action film.

Yes, that's debatable for a kid that young.

So, I finally saw it today.

I liked it.

It's certainly infinitely better than Tim Burton's last Disney adaptation or 'reimagining', Alice in Wonderland.

Plus, the story is actually pretty coherent which almost feels like a first for Burton, and I say that as one of his biggest fans.

I saw it yesterday and concur with people that it is a darker story but over all I think it was well done. They even managed to put in tributes to aspects of the first movie as well. [spoiler]A costumed mouse dressed as Timothy, Pink elephants, he even used crow feathers. The very ending however not so much. Setting them free doesn't make much sense at all.[/spoiler]

Dumbo was adorable as expected and I had a good time with the film. Sweet and non-political movies like this are almost like a time machine to before everyone was obsessed with gender and race. The daughter wants to be a scientist and that's a minor focus but it doesn't feel forced or like some "girls are better/smarter" message. She's a likable character. Maybe the biggest flaw is the ending which isn't horrible, just not entirely satisfying. Still, for the most part I was happy with it. I can now say I've seen Eva Green fly on an elephant.
