Great movie, but not the best of 2016

I really enjoyed La La Land, but I don't think it is the best film of 2016. Moonlight and Manchester By the Sea are better films. It deserves the nominations but shouldn't win best picture or director, in my opinion. What do you think?

I agree. It wasn't my favorite this year either. I haven't seen Moonlight so I can't say which is better. My favorites this year were Toni Erdman and 20th Century Woman. Annette Benning wasn't even nominated for best actress.

I agree. My pick was Manchester By The Sea.

Meanwhile what a horrible F Up by PWC. I feel so bad for the cast and crew of both films, which now be linked forever.

It's hard 2 say bec dis movie moved me by ze bootiful songz dat actin alone cannot do so in a way they cheated. I wuz also moved my manchester and moonlite.

In da end, I think moonlite deserved it bec it wuz basically an extremely low budget indie made by a few broz at ze corner of ze block.

I kind of agree. I liked Hacksaw Ridge and Silence more

I agree.. I've not seen Manchester by the Sea or Moonlight but La La Land wasn't anything spectacular in my mind. I guess it's kind of unusual to have a musical nowadays but I don't think that makes it exceptional. My favourite films of 2016 were Lion, The Founder and Snowden. I'm also not entirely sure what Emma Stone did to deserve the best actress Oscar either.. she was good but not the best I've seen.

La La Land is certainly among the best films of the year. I tilt toward the most cinematic films and find that musical films
tend to be very cinematic. I would have voted for La La Land for Best Picture. And it definitely deserved Best Director.
But I can't complain too much that Moonlight won Best Picture.

Me neither, I think the better movie won at the Awards anyway.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here- https://youtu.be/ER6TDam4_bY

The problem is, that these movies just can't be compared.
Depending what mood one is in, or the personal connections one can make with 'movie x', - there are so many things that can influence how we view them.
I have seen several "best movie of the year" ;)

It was my no. 2 of the year behind Voyage of Time, but that had no chance of winning. It was definitely my favorite of the nominees.
