The Batman TV Show Will Be What Fans Wanted Gotham To Be

Gotham was great in its own right. The perfect mix of gritty police action, dark humor, and Batman mythos.
It was the best show on television for a few years.

I love these articles about how much better a new version of a franchise will be before a single frame has been shot, possibly even before a single word has been written. I remember an article before The Last Jedi came out saying that Rian Johnson's spin-off Star Wars trilogy is "just what the franchise needs". How's that working out for them?

To date I've only seen the first three Seasons of Gotham but I really enjoyed them, especially the Second Season. Some of what other people consider flaws I really like; Batman is a gothic comic book, I want some absurdity and even camp. It got the light/dark and drama/romp ratios about right IMO. The Patterson/Reeves movie looks like it's going to double down on the pseudorealistic grit of the Nolan trilogy, which was fair enough for one trilogy, but going back to that well strikes me as a waste.

I’ll have to watch both of them sometime.
