They are brothers?

Tommy look almost relief that he didnt have to go after Joel changed his mind, didnt he just told him that he isnt as sharp and good as before? Being his bro, shouldnt he offered to go together with Joel to look after him and also hes familiar with the area?

Sometimes brothers aren't all that tight. Clearly Joel is the caretaker of the two.

Looks like Tommy wasnt even happy that Joel showed up. Looks like they drifted apart long time ago and Tommy moved to another place and started new life from clean sheet. Where no one knew his old self. And was genuinely happy.

Then Joel shows up with some girl and starts demanding him to leave his pregnant wife and go into the wilderness for some stupid reasons. Of course he didnt want to do that. He was relieved that Joel went himself and didnt force him to die.

And I cant understand why on earth they keep searching that stupid lab. So what if scientists will produce some vaccine? What will it give to humanity? Like Joel said - immunity will not save Ellie from being torn apart by zombies. Zombies dont stop in her presence sensing she is not prey. That Boy wanted to kill her and attacked.

Humans in this universe dont need vaccine. They need to kill all zombies. Only then they can be happy. That’s the first thing society should do when survivors establish community. They must to try to kill as many zombies around as they can. Less zombies - less attacks and more security.

Just create some device with big saw like thing, gather them in massed and one line, make them go there and chop their heads. Then do it again and again. But we rarely see that in zombie shows. Walking Dead tried to do something when Rick and Co were in prison - they regularly went to fences to kill zombies who stumble upon. And one time they put zombies in big horde to try to lure them into cliff to fall into canyon. That was smart. I know there are hundred of millions of zombies. But at least kill those in your area.

Vaccine will not save everyone here. Joel and Ellie should have stayed with Tommy in that place. But then show should have ended so....

Tommy and Joel did some bad things, to survive ofcourse but still things Tommy wants to leave behind as he built a new sustainable life for himself. Sometimes people remind of us of a history you rather forget and although you love them it’s easier to just run away.

Joel could have stayed but Tess died to give them a chance, i believe he owes it to Tess to give it a chance. And potentially redeem himself.

As for killing the zombies, you make it sound easy, they are ultra-dangerous, and society hasn’t got the tech and means to efficiently eradicate them. More importantly humans need to work together again, and that will take a long time.

If you were him, why would you want to go through God knows what & get killed by taking Ellie where she needed to go? That’s got nothing to do with being brothers but thinking “Man I don’t want to do that!” There’s a “reason” that Tommy chose to end his transmissions to Joel. Joel was only a phone call away but Tommy just cut the cord. So far it isn’t explained “why” but his only family left & he chose to do “that?” Yeah, BIG reason. Plus Joel was only a prick to him when he got there. Didn’t care about him being married or his wife pregnant. No well wishes or “Hey that’s great brother!” Thing is I wouldn’t talk to him either.

reply

Of course I would , Joel is his only kin left and its not like their r/s is really bad otherwise they wouldnt have hug each other. The main reason Joel is helping the Fireflies is to look for Tommy which shows that he still cares thus Tommy should have at least offered to accompany them since its just a short trip. Its unclear what happened in the past but its certainly not cool for Tommy to have such an indifferent atttitude.

It was very loudly stated that Tommy is over with his old life and moved on to new one. He ended transmission because he was in new community and it was dangerous to send signals. He didn't know that Joel would be stupid enough to go search for him.

While Joel was bored with his life and simply didn't know what else to do. So he got obsessed with going on a suicide mission to find Tommy. To save him. He did find him, made sure he is safe and then.... lost interest in him. To the point he was ready to sent his own brother to die. Which was just idiotic. And for what? Because he need to get Ellie somewhere?

What Joel should have done is to just stay at that place and forget about the mission. Its was stupid anyway. No vaccine would save humanity now. Because zombies will still tear them apart. And humanity is perfectly fine exterminating each other.

I”m not sure if it was because of his new home that Tommy was afraid to send transmissions to Joel. After all they did take him in when they didn’t have to & I or we don’t know if they mind him talking to his brother, if they ever found out or he told them. How was Joel’s position any different? He lived in a military dictatorship for crying out loud, I’m sure it was just as dangerous if not even more so for him. He can never go back there now.

Joel didn’t ask Tommy to do the favor out of a whim but he felt he truly couldn’t go on but brother or not I’d never do it. Don’t believe xfool when he says he would. When you have a history of committing murder with your brother then screw family, which his how Tommy probably felt. Xfool would probably say he’d do that too. The man has a new wife & child on the way, yeah he should offer to accompany Joel or screw it, just do it himself for a fools errand, just because. We saw where that got Joel at the end of the episode.

reply

If Tommy is there, Joel wouldnt have ended up in that state. Anyway the deal is to go to the campus , any further of course its only on Joel and Ellie. Tommy is either being a wuss about the errand or just plain selfishness.

reply

You cant be serious. Dont you see that Joel is the one here being selfish? Instead of staying with his brother - he left him to go on suicide mission to deliver some random girl somewhere... Jole is the one who left his brother. And the one who wanted to take him out of safety and send on dangerous suicide mission. Didnt you just saw how Joel was literally stabbed by some randoms the moment he went to that place? That would have been Tommy. This is where Joel wanted him to send.
