Nova

If the girl in this is meant to be a younger version of the character from the original (which it would seem to be, otherwise why include that), it's odd how this is in northern CA, presumably, and at the end of the original, NYC seems to be a not-too-lengthy horse ride away.

I read an article that said she's definitely not meant to be the same person.
Maybe the future Nova was named after her?

I'm pretty sure 'Nova' wasn't her given name in Planet of the Apes (1968). The humans in that film were mute. There's no way she could have told her what her name was. Taylor GAVE her that name. He just picked it for her, and started to call her that. Least that's how I remember it.

Using the same name was simply a nod to the existing material. Not meant to connect the two characters in any concrete way.

I saw the current film. Nova, of course was borrowed from a clasic Chevy car name that was already well established in 1968.

Or exploding stars.

Yeah, it's pretty weird.

"OMG they haven't buried the statue of liberty in the sand yet!!!"

FYI: Cornelius is also a character name from the old series, played by Roddy McDowall. So we expect that now they're in a desert and Caesar is dead, that the next installment in this series will have an adult Cornelius, yes?
