not great

the acting was fine, but the story....
I realize it's about the relationship between the dude and his robot/dog, but you need to put a bit more work into the world building with logic intact - and as far as logic is concerned, there was none. Essentially, it's a fantasy film. As a fantasy film, it's a relatively boring affair - it's almost like a play - presumably filmed in the social distancing mode, so I'd call this a covid era movie. Oxygen is the best covid era film I've seen thus far, by the way - due to the script/acting. This movie had great sfx, but the script was far from being decent - and that was the main fallacy of the film.
I'd give it 5/10 - I want to give it 6 for the sfx, but I can't due to the script.
In comparison, Cast Away, another Tom Hanks film which could have been made during the covid era, was much better.

Cast Away is Hank's best movie, in my view.

reply

Well - it was THE Hank's movie, since he was basically the only one in it.
Overall though, I'd say 'saving private ryan' was the best film he starred in.

reply

Haha, he was more or less the only one in it. But I love how it's Cast Away, and not Castaway. His love for his wife was cast away...

Private Ryan, too gritty, too real, and sad for me.

reply

What "acting" are you talking about? All aspects of this movie displeased me ... could not stand it.

reply

I didn't have an issue with acting - but the script was utter shit.
Even when Tom Hank character was behaving oddly, it was due to script.

reply

ya he wasn't even teaching the robot properly - in a basic/analytical way. using bad examples of english (sky is like swiss cheese)
Should've been using therbligs to teach it.
