I just finished season 1 and while I enjoyed it enough to keep going I don't find it funny...is it supposed to be and it's just not my kind of humor?

There were moments when I laughed out loud.

Since it was 8 years or so ago when I began watching it I can't remember specifically what those moments were, but the joke about the autoerotic asphyxiation dude (when someone refers to it as "The ol' stroke and choke" was one that springs to mind.

There were more.

So, yeah. Funny, but later on there were far more "serious" moments.

Also the part later on (can't remember which season) when Princess Carolyn's boyfriend is actually two little kids on top of each other under a trenchcoat.

That was fucking hilarious.

Well, if you didn't find season 1 funny and your reason for watching is that you want to laugh, you are not supposed to keep watching. Season 1 is one of the funnier seasons - I did laugh a lot - but after season 4 the show just becomes very depressing.
