...the moment he stepped inside their house. Who else thought it was really dumb to have dinner and sleep at the black familys house when they knew an army was chasing them?

More like Charles. Someone as thoughtful as him would not actually risk the families safety by staying the night, just to show Logan what it's like to be part of a family. Lil hammy.

I felt bad for that family. Logan knew they were putting that family in danger but the Professor insisted on it and perhaps he was just too tired to listen to his conscience and made a careless mistake. I felt bad for the kid the most.

It was a tragic development, through and through. Unrealistic optimism is very true to Xavier's character.
