Season 2 Episode 10 (3/29/17)

Are you guys ready to see what is going on in Venus? Ganeymeade?

Let's Rolll!

reply

I was ready two episodes ago. 😋
Let's hope they deliver some more information this time.

reply

I've been tired all day after golf and cutting grass yesterday, so I will watch it tomorrow and DVR it. Can't wait to read everyone's comments though. Don't worry about spoilers either. I have no problem with spoilers.

reply

If Venus turns into a giant proto molecule ball, I'm not sure how you can stop that, especially if it decides to move.

How did Avasa get that alien photo?

reply

I have t seen the show yet but I know there is a spy she hired who is on that ship sent to Venus. I'm sure he is relaying pictures to her.

reply

In this episode we get to see the alien in the photo. Finally!

But the photo didn't come from Venus (still no news about Venus). The photo was a part of the file entitled "Project Caliban" which, I presume, came from Errinwright who had a change of heart and decided to share information.

EDIT: There is also small print under the words "Project Caliban" which wasn't clear to see. I googled it, and apparently, it reads "Protomolecule Phase 4 Hybrid".

Big part of this episode deals with the situation on Ganymede. Rocinante crew is searching for the little girl/possible sightings of protomolecule at the same time. Search for a little girl leads them to the unknown part of the Station behind closed doors, which nobody knows nothing about. Protomolecule hunt hasn't been successful so far either, but I have a feeling this could also lead to the same closed door.

Meanwhile on Earth, Errinwright admits to his part in the Protomolecule Project and says that Mao was working for Mars. Martian behavior becomes clearer after this confession, and why they want Bobbie to keep her mouth shut about the "man without a suit".

Bobbie finally gets to see the ocean, after escaping and stumbling around the city in what looked like an agoraphobia panic attack.

reply

That escape concerned me a bit as there would be a difficulty in perception of what is "safe" to do. I'm glad they mentioned the issues of balance, finding the horizon, feeling vulnerable under the sky, etc. On Mars a person could jump down 15ft. without harm, but on Earth, you could easily break a leg. I thought they handled it okay.

reply

We weren't shown much about Mars in the series, so I presumed that Bobbie was behaving strangely cause she isn't used to open spaces. Good thing she wasn't hurt while jumping, cause she obviously lacks experience being in such a high gravity field (even though martian marines train at 1 G, we've been told). Bobbie's reaction to Earth, and especially seeing the ocean for the first time was perfect. She looked at it with eyes wide open, obviously mesmerized by the view.

reply

Yeah, thought all behaviour of Bobby as a martian on Earth was well done. Too bad the actor is so bad at acting.. She was kinda ok just being the soldier in earlier episodes, but now when she had to show a bigger emotional range she just fell flat to me. Pity.

reply

It's true that her face isn't very expressive. But this fits with the military type of person she is, who's reluctant to show emotions.

reply

Why would she be reluctant to show emotions? Alone on the beach in front of the ocean for the first time? Even with military reluctance to show emotions there should be something else than just *blank*. A good actress would show a well of emotions with just twitching some few muscles in her face for example.

No, this is just very poor acting.

reply

We'll agree to disagree. I thought that she acted mostly with her eyes in that scene, and she did it well.

reply

There's one thing I don't get. When Errinwright was examining Bobbie's suit, he found plant molecules on it. The answer we were given is that's because Bobbie was found in a wreckage of the dome.

But she was nowhere near the dome during the battle, or when she was lying on the ground, hurt, after the attack. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

reply

I think this is just another case of where what WE see on the screen doesn't quite match "the story" as described by characters. Also, the visual effects staff may not have been told that the soldiers should appear to be very close to the domes. TV/Movie worlds just don't operate like real life, leaving us screaming again and again. Maybe it's time for an unrealistic car chase...?

reply

Thanks, I won't be reading too much into this, then. Those mistakes happen.
I just thought that maybe aliens (or someone else) dragged her into the wreckage of the dome after the attack, and this detail might be significant later in the series.

reply

Or the martians changed that part of the story too..

No, you are probably right. Probably they were near a dome in the book, but when they shot the scene they didn't take that into consideration - even if it's being pointed out later on Earth. Got to say it's not many of those kind of errors in the script in this show! Some other shows have these all the time.

reply

No Venus, guess we'll have to wait till the next episode!

reply

I guess they couldn't squeeze in Venus with Ganymede and Earth. But like you, I'm very excited about seeing Venus.

reply

Yeah, and funny enough it was actually kinda nice to see more of Earth. Like Chrisjen said in an earlier episode, most of the population lives off of government support to feed their families, and that was quite evident in this episode.

reply

Oh, they have to show us some more from the science team sent to Venus soon! I'm dying of curiosity!

reply

I wonder if we will see the return of Joe Miller...somehow.
