Anyone looking forward to this movie?

For those who are interested in physical fitness, this will undoubtedly provide some interesting insights as to how it became the industry that it is today. Anyone who knows the story of the Weider brothers, their publishing empire, and the stars they promoted, knows about the conflicts, struggles, and drama behind the scenes.

And for those who are not interested in physical fitness, watch it for the good casting and the fascinating story, and perhaps this will provide some motivation to become more active like we all should be.

I guess not.

And the absolute lack of publicity and marketing for this movie continues! What gives??

And here we are in August, and there are still no trailers and no release date!
Supposedly it was screened privately at Cannes in May.

I am, now that you just made me aware of it. I’m happy to see that they’ve included Jack Lalane in the story. What a pioneer Jack was! I think he had the world’s first fitness TV show, on weekday TV, when we had, like, two stations. The husbands all thought he was gay as Liberace, but their wives knew better, and were glued to that . . . ooo, what should I say? . . . loss for diplomatic words here, folks . . . um . . . Screen! Yeah, the housewives were glued to Jack’s screen—which was right below his lower abdominals.

Need a Mike Mentzer biopic or documentary. That's a story.

I wonder if he's depicted in this one. I don't see how they can leave him out. Joe thought of him as a son.

The Weider story is very interesting, and they and Arnold helped turn physical fitness and gyms into an international phenomenon. However, the trailers just didn't do it for me, and the 22% on RottenTomatoes sure isn't helping.

I doubt I'll catch this theatrically, but I may check it out some time on Netflix or a similar service...on a very slow day.

I try not to put too much stock into RottenTomatoes ratings. Critics and vocal online reviewers have hated movies that I loved, and vice versa.

I kinda doubt there are many gym rats to be found in either of those populations💪🏻!

Good point.
