Anyone disappointed?

First off, I loved the first Pitch Perfect film. It was funny, toe-tapping and simply hilarous. In fact, I rated it 9/10. But this one, nah, what can I say? This sequel was just terrible. Plenty of cringe-worthy jokes, the script was predictable, Emily and Benji's love story subplot was terrible, and Anna Kendrick's fails to deliver the goods as the female lead in this sequel. Overall, I prefer to watch the first movie again and again. This was just a failure. I rated it 4/10 since I liked the soundtrack especially the "flashlight" and the rip-off. Anyone else disappointed?

Well, it wasn't really cringe-worthy, so much as virtually all of the jokes were NOT FUNNY! Basically, this film was just...there. I'm not even a huge comedy person, but I could re-watch the first Pitch Perfect on an almost loop it was so funny. The other thing that bugged me about this movie is that none of the music choices did anything for me. The thing about the first film is that in many of the music sequences, humor was incorporated. In this sequel, there wasn't any humor involved, but also the music itself wasn't good. Even if you ignore the humor from the first film, the music itself was great. Even if the first film weren't funny (which it was in spades), you can still fall back on the awesome musical arrangements. This sequel's musical performances are borderline terrible. So, not only does this sequel fail at comedy, the music is bland also.

Very disappointed, no real laughs and all the jokes felt forced. The songs were awful and there was just no fizz to it at all. It just felt like what it was - a lazy cynical cash in.

'Well I've got two words for you - STFU'

Slow, scattered, boring, unoriginal, badly written, hardly ANY music, and, I'm sorry Elizabeth, badly directed. I had such high hopes for her taking the sequel on too. Last night, while watching it on cable? Spent nearly the entire time thinking "There must be a way to write this one off as a bad dream, ala Patrick Duffy's death in Dallas, and start over..."

*sigh*

Nope - actually liked the second one better. The first one was pleasant and sweet, but the second one made me laugh (plus I will take a split pants joke over puke jokes any day).

Yes, severely disappointed

Not that I wasn't counting on it. When I watched the trailer when it came out, it looked like a much weaker movie, that's why I didn't see it in theaters.

Recently watched "Pitch Perfect" during a long haul flight, so felt like I wanted to check out this second one.

It is pretty lame. The german team and everything associated with it is such lazy writing: the way they sing with an accent "ve vill be" instead of "we will be", "zi" instead of "the", it's such a tired joke, we all know most germans do not sound like that and most of all they do not sing English songs with an accent. Plus the fact that they're much taller... I mean how many more boring stereotypes could you fit in? Also singing while eating a bratwurst?

The new girls (the latina girl and the "legacy" one) were pointless, non charismatic characters.

The songs they used in the whole movie were much weaker than in the first one.

I could go on and on.

I had to skip forward through several parts of the movie while I was watching it.

4/10 from me. I'd give the first one 7/10.

Eh it was alright. But then again I generally don't have high expectations for sequels in the first place. Most sequels are a hit or a miss. Anyway, I ended up watching the movie twice before I sent it back to Netflix and it was tiny bit better the second time I watched it (granted I did end up dozing off a little during the camp scenes).

Yeah, I was very disappointed. Hope the 3rd one will be as good as the 1st one.
