Anyone disappointed?

First off, I loved the first Pitch Perfect film. It was funny, toe-tapping and simply hilarous. In fact, I rated it 9/10. But this one, nah, what can I say? This sequel was just terrible. Plenty of cringe-worthy jokes, the script was predictable, Emily and Benji's love story subplot was terrible, and Anna Kendrick's fails to deliver the goods as the female lead in this sequel. Overall, I prefer to watch the first movie again and again. This was just a failure. I rated it 4/10 since I liked the soundtrack especially the "flashlight" and the rip-off. Anyone else disappointed?

Agree with everything except the flashlight song, I thought it was just... too basic and cheap.

Also hated that this time they just sing out of the blue. That's what I loved about the first one, when at auditions that guy said that they wouldn't be "singing their way through a social issue or confused sexuality" (basically: this isn't Glee...).

It wasn't an awful movie. But it was an awful sequel to a great movie.

Agreed. I liked the first one and the second is pretty weak. Not much in the entire movie except to admire Alexis Knapp when she s on screen as well as the Adam Levine/Rebel Wilson fling.

I sort of agree, the first movie was just plain FUN. This one honestly doesn't get interesting until they get to the camp and by then the movie is over (with some side notes to the battle and the German group, all those scenes are great.).

also the songs in the first movie are just plain better.

Bumper, Audrey and Stacie needed more screen time imho.

Also disappointed, this movie felt like a big shameless empty cash grab, with a side order of padding the run time. Most of the cast seemed to feel the same way and barely had any energy, including Anna Kendrick who was a little pop cracker in the 1st one as I remember it.

Still kinda watchable, lots of good songs in there, and who doesn't love endless racial jokes with the new addition? of some weird hispanic lady. I liked the germans though, needed more scenes..

to Anna Kendricks totally vacant performance (even she looked embarrassed to be in this clunker)

Right? So it's not just me. The movie had barely begun and I was thinking to myself "can't be as bad as I heard, right?" and Anna Kendrick looked and sounded like she was phoning it in and I thought "yeah with lines like these, who wouldn't?" but it only kept getting worse.

She felt like she was thinking to herself "why did I sign for this crap before I got a script? Someone get me outta here!"

Yes it was terrible..!!
I was looking forward to some great creative singing (when they sing Just The Way You Are in the first movie) but there werent any - the movie was mostly about a bunch of confused relationships - ugggh!
I liked it when all the previous Bellas came on stage at the end though - was a good touch.
And the commentators were a laugh!

It really crushed me when I realized this movie wasn't anywhere near Pitch Perfect (the original). The 'plot' was lame, I didn't feel any 'closeness' among the girls, the boys were barely there, Becca's romance was boring (I hoped for lots of love, maybe even a duet between them)...
Gosh, I honestly liked nothing about this one. :(
I've watched the first one several times, I have that soundtrack and frequently listen to it.
This one... I'm sad to say, is completely forgetable, imo.
