Anyone disappointed?

First off, I loved the first Pitch Perfect film. It was funny, toe-tapping and simply hilarous. In fact, I rated it 9/10. But this one, nah, what can I say? This sequel was just terrible. Plenty of cringe-worthy jokes, the script was predictable, Emily and Benji's love story subplot was terrible, and Anna Kendrick's fails to deliver the goods as the female lead in this sequel. Overall, I prefer to watch the first movie again and again. This was just a failure. I rated it 4/10 since I liked the soundtrack especially the "flashlight" and the rip-off. Anyone else disappointed?

reply

Well it wasn't really an original song; it's a song by Jessie J that was recently released, and this film is basically one big commercial for it.

reply

Oh, really? Didn't know that but thanks for that info.

reply

I think Sia wrote it for Jessie J didn't she?

reply

It was written by multiple people (none of which are the performer), like the majority of pop songs are. I was just referring to who actually sang it.

reply

Who else besides Sia are you referring to that wrote the song Flashlight?

reply

I thing Sam Smith also helped to write it.

reply

Thank you.

reply

I found this list of people on Wikipedia under Flashlight composers: The song was written by Sia Furler, Christian Guzman, Jason Moore and Sam Smith.[1]

reply

What you said is exactly the way I feel about this movie.

reply

I was a little. To me this movie wasn't as good as the first one.

reply

Not funny and boring to boot.

reply

Nope! I loved it. But I also went with a group of 17 other people for my birthday and we had the best time. We were all laughing and singing along and all of us loved it. As good as the first? Nah, but still a lot of fun. Also, completely disagree about Kendrick. I thought she was fantastic.

reply

You actually sat in the theater and sang together during the movie? That's pretty obnoxious and inconsiderate to everybody else in the cinema, don't ya think?

reply

Our theater had a special advertised sing-along event. Otherwise we wouldn't have. I would never dream of doing that any other time. I'm actually in a movie club that goes to 2 to 3 movies a week, and we have more respect for the cinema than just about anybody else out there.

reply

That sounds super cool :)

I would have loved to be in that theater singing-along with you too! But, alas, I'm probably on the other side of the world and my only option is to sing-along in front of my computer...

I wish I can Be In A Movie Club

reply

Not at all. I liked it.

Have to agree, I can't count the times I've watched 1, so was looking forward to 2 but I knew it was a mistake about 10 mins in.
So bad, crap songs, sad jokes and not enough singing popular songs. What's up with the Bella's cheating in the world finals? Singing an "original" song? Wtf... Where's all the decent memorable tunes like before?
Why did the Bella's sets keep being interupted all the time? I wanted to hear some catchy songs and some funny jokes, but was let down on both sides, if it wasn't for Fat Amy and Anna's likeableness I would of rated this a 3 but gave it 5 stars

reply

Nope, I loved it. Laughed at all the jokes and literally shed tears at the end. Rated 10/10 :)
