Poor writing - cancel this show

I'm a big fan of the movie Fargo. Unfortunatelly, this series is just a cheap knock off.
The first series was an interesting remix, but wasn't much more than an amusement. The second and third series went downhill from there, always trying too hard.
All in all the writing lacks any heart. The humor is cut/paste from cohen bros.
The shock value is off topic.
This show looks like a film student exercise, thinking it's the cleverest, but showing no brains after all.

I agree, but I'm also very critical of the highly praised Season 1, which as you say is an interesting remix of all things Coen Bros movies, but after I finished watching that season I felt like was tricked into liking it because it's nothing more than a knockoff from someone else's ideas.

Yes, Noah Hawley does a craftsman's job of weaving easter eggs from various Coen Bros movies and adds them into various story elements, but at its core the story itself is absurd. Everything from Lorne Malvo's 2 Dimensional determination to Lester's transformation from Beta to evil Alpha are character traits you can find from Joel and Ethan's body of work, to which I say, so fucking what?

Watching this TV series is like listening to a Gen Z singer cover 80s songs remixed by DJ Khalid.

Hey I totally agree with you.
I just meant that season 1 at least seemed like an new idea with its remix feel. I can appreciate a remix now and then.
At this point the show is just a stale ripoff with no soul of its own.

It's the strongest of all the seasons Hawley has produced because it was new. The only other adaptation of Coen Bros "culture" was the failed ABC adaptation of "Fargo" back in the late 90s. I didn't even know that this existed when it came out but after watching episodes on Youtube it was clear that the TV series was poorly conceived from the get go.

Agreed. Noah Hawley is such a hack
