Barely made it through first episode

Holy crap it was boring!

reply

Sucks to be you.

reply

It really doesn’t. Don’t be jealous.

reply

Better go watch John Wick then. Your 10 sec attention span should be able to comprehend that.

reply

Nothing to do with attention span.

Masters of the Air is just a really underwhelming show.
It was advertised as "Band of Brothers in the air" and ultimately it was absolutely nothing like BoB and fell short in basically every aspect. Special effects, CGI, cast, story/script, historical accuracy, pacing... it was atrocious and it is beyond me what people see in this pile of trash. I did not even watch the last episode, I was already fed up with all the pretentious garbage that came before that.

reply

You call it "atrocious" and "pile of trash" yet you watched 8 episodes.

reply

Yes, how else would I know it is an atrocious pile of trash if I hadn't watched it, you fucking idiot?

reply

😂🖕

I gave up after four episodes, I think. I always try to give a show at least three episodes before bailing.

It wasn't so much boring as disjointed and uninvolving. The characters didn't seem like real people and it simply alternated between landside banter and airside mayhem, without properly tying the two together. The crews horse around, they have a very superficial briefing, they go up, then back to step 1. It was hard to care when a character died as I didn't feel I knew them - that's if I could tell who they were. It relied on stirring music and attitude to make you feel something, rather than a sense of camaraderie or a feeling of engagement in the world created.

The CGI was very noticeable too.

reply

Very well said, I completely agree.

The biggest contrast to Band of Brothers were the lackluster characters.
In BoB, I was hooked from the start and the Toccoa episode really made me feel I am there with them, not just observing them. In Day of Days, this resulted in me feeling anxious, almost as if I have to jump into Normandy with them.

THAT is peak casting and writing!

Meanwhile in MotA, like you, I struggled to care or feel anything half way through the whole show because... "who was that again?"

reply

I usually give them three episodes but this one wasn’t worth the effort.
