This one looks more like a Power Ranger clone. John Boyega's career is DoA.

The first one was probably pitched as "Transformers vs. Toho Studio Monsters". It was the kind of fanboy imitation that's politely called a "homage".

The only thing that gave the first movie any merit (beyond the fun of seeing Transformers fight Toho Studio monsters) was the relationship between the central characters. For some reason, we never see relationships that grow from mutual respect to love in movies.
