So...Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation??

There's no wrong answer, I'm just curious to see what other people think. I loved both films, but I was blown away by GP (had no real expectations going in), while I did have high expectations for RN (and it surpassed them for a while...but I ultimately felt it didn't live up to them, though I enjoyed the film very much).
So while loving both films, and reserving the right to change my vote upon rewatch, I have to go with Ghost Protocol.

I give it to Ghost Protocol, though Rogue Nation still holds its own in second place.

There is more of a team effort in GP than in RN which is what "Mission: Impossible" is all about. Despite being "The Tom Cruise Show", I think the rest of the crew got to shine more in GP whereas the team in RN spent a large portion isolated from each other and it isn't until around the halfway point they all meet up and work together as a whole unit.

At the end of the day though, both films are entertaining thrill rides with exciting action scenes, heart stopping stunts, impressive location filiming and the ever present scent of danger around every corner....

*in other words the perfect summer blockbuster pic!*

I would say Ghost Protocol was the better paced of the two films but had some truly amazing jaw dropping photography (especially the skyscraper scene). I felt this was a worthy addition but a little bit more subdued. MI2 nearly killed the franchise but MI3 saved it and i would put this film on an equal footing with that one.

Found 'GP' more enthralling and viscerally-entertaining.

I absolutely loved the energy and action sequences in Rogue Nation...that's my winner.

I have to say RN is superior. They finally have a true villain in the film, a real antagonist. That was missing in GP, and the car factory scene in that movie was so cartoonish and stupid. RN never lets up on the tension. It was also nice to see a woman agent with so much agency and vastly skilled. No damsel in distress. I also loved the lone wolf aspect to her character.

I haven't watched Ghost Protocol since it was in theaters but just based on memory I feel I enjoyed it a bit more than Rogue Nation. The scene toward the beginning in the Kremlin was especially enjoyable, as well as the skyscraper segment. Still, Rogue Nation was a lot of fun but felt a bit more by the numbers.

Nothing will top the first and third film for me though.

Look at that turtle go bro! 

I think they are an even match. RN was only let down slightly by the ending. Because the previous action sequences were so great in comparison.

RN by far!

On a re-watch i slightly prefer Rogue Nation 'cause it had the better screenplay and tone. Also the final part in London looked gorgeous kudos to Cinematographer Robert Elswit. Most of all the sound mixing in this one is fantastic.
