So...Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation??

There's no wrong answer, I'm just curious to see what other people think. I loved both films, but I was blown away by GP (had no real expectations going in), while I did have high expectations for RN (and it surpassed them for a while...but I ultimately felt it didn't live up to them, though I enjoyed the film very much).
So while loving both films, and reserving the right to change my vote upon rewatch, I have to go with Ghost Protocol.

I say Rogue Nation.

IMO, Ghost Protocol was a solid script elevated by fantastic direction. Rogue Nation had both great direction and a great script to go along with it.

i would have to say ghost protocol. i found the plot for this slightly ridiculous, particularly having the british prime minister drugged and potentially kidnapped. has that ever happened, or even been attempted, in the entire history of that office? no. i wonder why? probably because that really would be a mission impossible. these films are far fetched as it is. i found the attempt to tie MI to real world characters just highlighted how absurd these films really are.

while i really enjoyed how ilsa's loyalties were left unclear for most of the film, that was a well written character, but i found some of the other characterisation a bit off. benji's constantly coming across as the stuttering terrified geek is wearing a bit thin. he has been a field agent for years now. surely he would have just a touch more poise by now. i don't expect him to change into ethan hunt or anything, i just felt the film went a bit overboard portraying benji as the awkward brit.

also, while the fight scenes and focus on with ilsa, the consequence was that the supporting characters did not have enough to do, or decent screen time in comparison with mi 3 and 4.

the script took me out of the film sometimes - when alec Baldwin described ethan as the personification of destiny i rolled my eyes. who talks like that.

in comparison to MI3 and ghost protocol, rogue nation was a bit of a disappointment imo.

Rogue Nation has a better story while I still think the dubai and sandstorm sequence were better in ghost protocol. Rogue Nation I felt had the most continuity of the entire series which makes it stand out. It was a kickass film where I think it had the most impossible stuff for ethan to do. Hang out a plane, figure out who was trying to kill the ambassador, go through pressurized water, save Benji from a bomb, trick the CIA, try and kidnap the prime minister.

Ghost protocol. I loved rogue nation, but it was a little too convoluted for me. Had one too many double crosses and "gotcha" moments.

THEY SHOOTIN'! ah, i made you look.

Rogue Nation.

I wonder if you wonder.

Ghost Protocol. I was not expecting much from a 4th film of a franchise but was blown away. Don't get me wrong, Rouge Nation was awesome, but GP is epic with the great locations and of course Burj Khalifa scene.

Haters gonna hate

GP by a slim margin. RN was very good but the villain was a bit of a let-down. GP was a bigger film with a mind-blown techniques.
