That was a largely positive review, I'm up for waching it but will likely wait until Ep 6 is done.

I'm surprised it was shot in Iceland.

reply

I know, why not shoot in Alaska?

reply

So apparently Nic Pizzolatto didn't provide input for the script, it was all written by Issa López. I guess that's a relief.

reply

But everything she's done before has been mediocre at best...

reply

Rephrasing: Nic didn't have anything to do with this script, it is a relief. He just provided finances in the hopes of recouping it with interest. (Producer.)

reply

Season 4 is nonetheless as engrossing as its best predecessors. We’re never not eager to see what happens next or what it means to the tarnished protagonists

Thanks for the link to the review hownos which is very much appreciated.

you are welcome. how have you been?

reply

Thanks for asking. So far everything has been fine. Any theories on how the woman is able to see the dead guy named Travis who shows her how to find the dead bodies of the researchers? Is this a SUPERNATURAL event or something else like a hallucination???

reply

i usually don't watch until all the episodes are available.

reply

How many episodes are there in this story???

I like watching them each week and then also reading the reviews of each episode as a way to better comprehend what we've seen.

One review with an interview of ROSE (the character who sees the dead guy named Travis) says the KILLER has already appeared in Ep. 1, and she also says all the pieces of the puzzle will be revealed to us by the end.

Here's a link where you can find the article that contains what she said:

And here's another different link which describes what happens in the scene between ROSE and TRAVIS:

https://mashable.com/article/true-detective-burning-questions-ep-1-season-4

Who is Travis?

Rose Aguineau (Fiona Shaw) is cleaning the catch of her hunt when, over a nearby radio, a man's voice squawks, "Is anybody there?" She turns to see a man standing nearby who's wearing nothing but a flannel shirt and long johns — he's not even wearing shoes. She calls him Travis and asks, "What do you want?" Silent but focused, he walks out into the icy landscape.

Dressed for the weather in a full parka, hat, gloves, and boots, and armed with a flashlight, Rose follows him. Eventually, he stops and does a dance, haunting and strange. He mimes screaming and rending his clothes. Then he points, and following his direction is how Rose finds the remains of the Tsalal scientists.

When Navarro arrives on the scene, she's surprised when the old woman explains Travis led her here. "Travis is dead, Rose," the trooper says, to which Rose replies calmly, "I know."

reply

looks like six episodes

reply

It's hard to imagine how they'll wrap up everything in just 5 more episodes.

But one also has faith in what the actress who plays the part of ROSE said in the interview about how all the pieces of the puzzle will be revealed to us by the end of the story.

At another message board someone also suggested that the TRAVIS character might be the father of the other guy from S1 (the one who said that "TIME is a FLAT CIRCLE)." They do kinda look like they might be related.

So that could also be interesting if ROSE and/or TRAVIS are relatives of that other guy from back in S1.

i have been binging season 5 of fargo

reply

Thanks for the heads up regarding S5 of Fargo. Had no idea it was recently being aired on FX.

So far only 6 of the 10 eppy's have been loaded to ON DEMAND.

Hopefully that situation will change soon so that one can watch the rest of them.
