More than a monster flick

A very enjoyable movie. The reviews have all been favourable. It covers a number of themes. It deals with redemption, duty, sacrifice and love. You can sometimes create a family due to circumstance and choice rather blood. I like the fact that you see Japan getting back on its feet after the devastation of WW2.

But what about the title character?? He basically takes a backseat is what this sounds like, but pays off when he does show?? This will be a Blu Ray for me I'm suspecting

And such great acting! To be honest, just the first time that I watched an undubbed Japanese movie. And this one was impressive.

I agree that this is much more than a romp 'em stomp 'em monster film (though there is quite a bit of that in the movie also!) The human drama actually made me care for the characters more than almost any other Kaiju film.

What devastation was in Japan after WW2?

reply

Is that a serious question? Japan was bombed by the American air force from 1942 onwards. There is also the tiny matter of two atomic bombs used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Have you ever read a history book?

reply

I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying

reply

I don't read books, sorry. Why did we bomb Japan with those bombs?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Nice try, amigo.
