A film based on an arcade game from 1986...

... not only that, but all the sequels to the original arcade game were poorly reviewed. So "Rampage" couldn't even sustain a video game franchise, never-mind a multi-media franchise.

Why did anyone think this would be a great vehicle for The Rock in 2018?

Baffling.

It actually did make a surprising amount of money. But like 'San Andreas' it seems mostly forgotten.

It's on TV now. I agree.

We watched it in theaters with no foreknowledge of the original game. We saw this because we attended the theater about once a week at the time. We forgot about it pretty quick. Seeing it now, the CGI on George's face is really good. I doubt I'd actively seek it out for a rewatch.

Yeah, as far as video game movies go, it's not bad.

This was much better than I expected.

I thought the CGI on the ape was very good, and it really sold the emotional connection between him and The Rock.

I also loved Jeffrey Dean Morgans ' Cowboy' CIA man with his silver handled twin pistols.

💯

I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a delight as an actor. The movie is fine. It just didn't stick. That's all.
