Who was they killing in Men Against Fire exactly?

The "Roaches" all just looked like a bunch of scared homeless people trying to survive, they dind't appear to be any kind of threat to anyone. It didn't look like soldiers fighting in some war it felt like Nazi Germany and they was hunting down and killing Jews.

They had some tech that made them see and hear something else in the stead of the scared people, in this case some kind of "monster".

reply

Yes i know that, what i mean is why was the military having them target those people specifically and making them look like monsters?

reply

Because they were considered genetically inferior. They don't constitute a race as such so much as just people who are carriers of genes which render them susceptible to obesity, congenital illnesses and the like. It's quite important that they're not a race. People have got past racism but simply replaced it with another excuse to hate.

She actually uses the language "identification" when explaining to Stripe when underground. It's exactly what was done to the Jews, identification first, then gathering them up, demonizing and exterminating. This is why some of us shudder when we hear that politicians of late are suggesting identification badges for Americans of different origins or beliefs.

reply

it is, of course, an allegory.

it could be syrians, roma, jews, palestinians, iranians, africans, mexicans, the 'inferior'.

that was the device used in the story, the inferior. but you know, that was right out of himmler's & goebbels' play books.
