I can see the final review tally being in line with the other recent Malick films, To the Wonder and Knight of Cups.
Song to Song (so far, with just 12 reviews): 42% on RT
Knight of Cups: 46% on RT
To the Wonder: 46% on RT
I enjoyed the other two films but also completely understand why the film is so divisive. I'm looking forward to a change of pace from this current style. His next film will be a historic WWII drama, so that should (momentarily) conclude the dreamy, aloof, wide-angle lensed Malick trilogy.
someone tell Gosling he can't sing
sharestarted watching it and i knew it was the same guy who did knight of cups. good actors, good visuals, but nothing really happens
shareouch that sounds bad.
shareI thought it was pretty decent... It's a movie about drifting in life, so obviously it's going to "feel" aimless, but the reviews got it wrong as they seem to be too caught up with the aesthetic of the film than to understand or deal with what the director, Mallick, is communicating to us...
