I think Ken Miles had already raced in Le Mans 65’ where his gearbox crashed but in the movie it is obvious that the 1966 race was his first he did participate. I think its a serioius flaw for the script and its used to be more dramatic for the character.

No, he's right, factually. He's wrong about it being a "serious flaw" in the script, though.
