Yes very similar...
Outgunned police force fighting to the top of a large apartment block loaded with a vast drug gang...very violent and fine stuff for action fans...
I think i suggested this one to somebody some time ago...
Check out part 2 as well...not as good...less 'claustrophic' but still a damn fine shoot 'em up/punch 'em out actioner!

Only a passing similarity in the premise of law enforcement having to fight to the top of a building full of hostiles. The movies otherwise bear distinctly separate styles, stories and characters. Both are worth checking out.

This is one of the best action movies ever made I had the pleasure to watch in highschool during a film class and have seen it many times since showing buddies it over the years. The second one might be even better. Dredd was also a badass movie. We need more films like this and less superhomo super hero movies
