When I Hear The Booming Bass In A Rap Song

It sounds like someone is beating inside the trunk to get out.. LOL!!

I don't think it's a bass guitar - I think it's some generic synthesized thump. Horrible.

I’ve been designing custom audio systems for a very long time. Folks who do what I do have a saying: “Bass should be felt, not heard.” If you hear infantile BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, that’s bloated, cheap, flabby base that appeals to an audience whose lips move when they read. If you feel THUMP, THUMP, THUMP in your sternum, that’s clear, tight base. Draw your own conclusions about who is the target audience for this crap.

I can't help but laugh out loud when a rusty Honda goes by and the over-the-top booming coming from the sound system resonates the rotting car body and turns it into the loudest and most annoying kazoo you ever heard!!

We have the same sense of humor, my friend. I once had a customer tell me he wanted a subwoofer he could use both at home and in his car!😂 He had a buddy who moved his bass speaker between his home and the back seat of his car. The guy had his girlfriend hold the speaker in her lap in the car. He asked what I thought. “I think he’s going to have a dead girlfriend,” I replied.

It's not a real-life, trained, skilled, talented musician with a base guitar. It's just electronic thumping, designed and intended to annoy intelligent, grown-up people. Thankfully, the fad seems to have passed and we don't hear those idiotic thumping cars so much any more, and ghetto blasters seem to be a relic of the '80s. Most young people today listen to music (or as rap should be labeled, "music") on their phones, with ear buds, thus only destroying their own hearing but not irritating everyone within a quarter of a mile.

I hear that bass thumping on Campus where I work, specifically on the weekends when they're cruising
