beyond the simple anthology of it all

Do you think they'll ever hit a point (most likely the final season/episode) where there's some kind of reason or explanation for the connections between seasons? I doubt at this point. I used to want one, even felt it kind of necessary, but that's changed for me. The more seasons it has, the more unmanageable that realistically becomes to do. And I feel like unless they've literally planned and crafted it to have that pay-off since the beginning (which I wouldn't put past Murphy, but I just don't think so here), I feel like any attempt would be lackluster, weak, unsatisfying.

The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, One Step Beyond never had a coalescing final season. No reason to expect this to have one. That’s not at all in the structure of an anthology.

They've connected some seasons, though. Already removing that structure of an anthology.

They've struggled to keep a coherent storyline though any one season, forget about weaving them all together.
