Is Morgan Freeman turning into Bruce Willis to collect easy paycheks?

It was funny. I thought he was co-lead next to Josh. Based on trailer and posters. But then he shows up for few short scenes and its other actor who is main villain.

And I remembered how someone described those last movies of Bruce Willis and how they were all constructed.

The formula for recent 'Willis' DTV output is simple:
Despite being plastered all over the front cover, Willis will only have around 15 minutes 'screentime' (but interspersed enough throughout the movie, to give the false impression he was on-set any longer than 1-2 days)

And it really felt that Morgan Freeman pulled Bruce Willis here and was on set for 2-3 days, quickly read his lines and then they plastered it on poster and trailer to make it seem like he is co-lead. While it was Josh and other actor who did all the work.

At this point I dont even understand why Morgan is doing anything like this. Just retire and live your life. And come out once good project will come. Why do this weird low budget movies? Is he just bored and want's to constantly work?

MORGAN FREEMAN IS LIKE 123 YEARS OLD...A BIT DIFFERENT SITUATION.

The guy is 86. I doubt he's fit to do demanding work. Probably just happy to do some easy work and collect his paycheck. Enjoy his appearances while you can.

But its just such small b-movies is beyond his legacy. Its not blockbuster and its not some low budget Oscar bait. It's action b-movie that no one will watch. Direct to streaming. Very forgettable. It's like having DiCaprio doing it. It doesn't make sense.

He lowers himself and his quality. When he will start doing such movies - people will start seeing him as such. Like Nickolas Cage used to do big movies. Then got older, those action movies were not as popular and he started doing any movie he could score. And they were such low quality that when you see him starring in anything you just dont even click because you know it would be some low quality small budget crap. Like Willis destroyed his legacy by doing all those paycheck actions movies in last years.

Fewer quality movies today and they're not usually offered to older actors.

Nicholas Cage is doing smaller budgeted movies which are interesting. I just saw "Dream Scenario" and I plan to see "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent".

reply

Well, Nicolas Cage did all those terrible films due his owing millions to the IRS. Willis was just doing as many quick movies as possible due his debilitating dementia. Morgan Freeman even said in one interview when asked if he still has a burning desire to work he responded by saying it was more like smoldering embers. Sadly, the sounds like he does not care and will star in anything if it pays okay regardless of quality.

Freeman's name probably sells the movie to investors. He must love working because he had about 8 projects in 2022 and again in 2023. He gets a lot of narration work probably because he has a very smooth relaxing voice.

I enjoyed this movie. It was something different.

Morgan is one of those actors that seems like he will say yes to almost anything for a paycheck. Yeah he's done great movies, but he's also done a lot of stinkers too.
