Barry Keoghan.....going places....

Sadly, I think social media has turned people into chronic bitchers about everything.

I finally watched this and, of course, it is not for everyone, but it seems that people watch things just to be able to bitch about them later and even if they have a prior thought that a particular show or movie isn't for them and watch it anyway to just be able to bitch.

Watching Barry Keoghan in this role indicates he will go places and be around for a long time. I've not seen everything he has been in, but enough to appreciate his range (in the British series Top Boy he plays a character that I think will surprise most people if they have not seen it already and it is an illustration of his acting range).

But the reason he is an exceptional actor is because he shows with Saltburn, he is one of those rare actors that is willing to go anywhere in their portrayals of characters.

ehh. Doesn't have the looks or charisma to be a leading man. Liked him in Dunkirk, but that was more of an ensemble.

I couldn't disagree more. Prime example: https://moviechat.org/nm0004778/Adrien-Brody

Dumb comment to make on the site of the movie where Keoghan IS the leading man.

Difference between star and leading man. This movie specifically highlights he doesn't have the chops to be a leading man. He is more of a character actor. We haven't seen enough of him to know what kind of range he has, but I feel I am firm ground when I say he isn't on the same level of a Philip Seymour Hoffman, or Alan Rickman.

reply

You admit you haven’t seen enough of him to know what range he has. So you’ve no idea what heights he may scale as an actor. And his work in Banshees of Inisherin was every bit on the same level of a Philip Seymour Hoffman. That’s why he got an Oscar nomination. As for your complaining about his looks - how shallow can you get?

reply

Young actor, he doesn't have much out there. Looks matter for lead roles. Brad Pitt and DiCaprio wouldn't be where they are without them.

reply

I’m sure Mr. Keoghan couldn’t give a rat’s ass about what you think makes a lead actor. Too bad talent, which he has in spades, isn’t your primary criterion.

reply

He doesn't give a rat's ass about your opinion either. Influencing actors isn't what these boards are for.

reply

“Influencing actors”??? Who’s talking about that besides you? Desperate detour from your ignorant assertion that Keoghan doesn’t have the talent or looks for his role. He’s no less talented than the actors you cited – Hoffman & Rickman – who certainly weren’t Adonises. You’re an opinionated ass who comes here to make baseless assertions & pick fights. You’re a waste of time. Don’t waste more by replying – I won’t see it. You’re ignored.

that was autocorrect fucking me...again. What I was saying was, none of these conversations on obscure message boards mean anything to those in the industry. So. that I think this dude is quality character actor, but not a leading man, doesn't matter to anyone with sway in Hollywood. You seem to care what I post here, but I assure you, no one else does. and don't think those who have power in the industry cares what you think either. They don't.

If they did, they wouldn't keep shoveling barrel-fulls of tripe at us, every single day. How many box office losers does Disney have to put out, before they figure it out?
