S01E05 Remember It

Woah... beyond that I'm almost speechless. Almost. I was never a fan of the original series. The pace and animation was much too frenetic and frantic for my taste and seemed designed for teens with ADHD, and some of the storylines were a bit too juvenile, given its target audience. I watched it, but not with great interest other than the various nostalgic tie-ins to the X-Men comics of the 70's and 80's.

I was expecting much of the same with X-Men '97, and while there's hints of that (although a bit better, I'd prefer the pacing to slow down a little more), this iterative extension of the previous series has been elevated story-wise, culminating with that devastating massacre and death in episode 5. Each episode of X-Men '97 has drawn me in further and episode 5 just blew me away with its emotional impact.

Bravo to the creators of X-Men '97. While not perfect, they're definitely hitting some high notes and pulling no punches.
