Cut the crap America!

...nobody outside of the US gives a *beep* about the NYC ball dropping. It's the most lame New Years celebration on Earth. We're talking the Sydney Harbor Bridge fireworks; the Eiffel Tower lit up with lights and fireworks in France; the London Tower lights and fireworks in England.

Nobody outside of the US even watches the NYC ball drop!!!

America! For the love of humanity, please stop deluding yourselves!

Just like the Superbowl...nobody outside of America (besides ex-pat Americans) cares about any of it...so stop!

Take the word 'world' out of any American celebration and acknowledge that the rest of the world doesn't care about any of it.

Every country has it's own celebrations and festivities; they don't celebrate American holidays or celebrations...ever!

Cut the crap and stop deluding yourselves!

BTW! The World Series? No! As it is only America that plays it! It's not like America has beat the rest of the world at baseball and now it's only American teams playing each other. Nobody outside of America watches it, because nobody cares about it.

You're forgetting about the Toronto Blue Jays, who in fact won the World Series in 1992 and 1993.

Canada and the US - it's hardly the 'world' is it?

I hope you find peace in 2017.

It's not about me finding peace, it's about the destructive way that America deludes itself into thinking that your country is the centre of the universe, and it isn't!

You might think it's just a simple movie, but it is the dominant culture in America to think you control the world; you don't! The world goes on without you every day. It is the dominant culture in the US to think that the rest of the world is always watching America; we aren't! We have our own affairs to worry about. It's the dominant culture of America to think that the rest of the world wants to be 'America'; we don't! Your country is very sick and not something other liberal-democratic nations want to emulate. It is the dominant culture of the US to think you're the greatest country in the world; you aren't! In any event, the greatest country in the world is subjective - every country thinks they're the greatest country in the world, but one thing's for sure, America falls short drastically when it comes to the 'greatest country in the world' stakes. You're not even on the chart.

You have to understand how destructive it is to the rest of the world that America thinks this way. It's time for America to be humbled and to come back down to Earth - and to once-and-for-all stop deluding yourselves that the rest of the world cares what America does where it doesn't affect their country directly. We don't! And to stop thinking that everything you do is the best; it isn't!

People don't sit around thinking about America all day and waiting for America's next fascinating cultural event - and it's absurd to think people do. The only time other countries give two *beep* about what America is doing is when it comes to politics - because your politics always has a ripple affect - and usually a BAD one, so we watch to see what contingency measures we will have to put in place to 'manage' the President Elect's 'expectations' of other nations, as it always almost has a negative impact, that does nothing for the betterment of our own nations.

I didn't even know what the ball drop was (I'm in the uk)

I have to agree, the script writers got that wrong -- nobody around the world even gets a broadcast of the Times Square ball dropping, unless it's in passing during a newsreel collage of every country's celebrations, of which Sydney Harbour actually makes the biggest news.

Plus why would anyone outside the US be seeing it live -- it wouldn't be in their time zone for marking midnight. Really stupid script, and not just that part -- I found many lines so completely lame, I couldn't believe all these stars even signed on.

I hate the ball drop. First you have to see all the people herded into Times Square, locked up behind iron crowd control/bike gates, shivering in the freezing cold, and all wearing lame merchandising like Nivia face creme hats. Then the commentators yacking about nothing and asking the herds why they came there. Then the anticlimatical tacky ball drop, as exciting as watching an elevator descend. Then the SAME SONGS played year after after, John Lennon’s Imagine because you know life and deep thoughts, and Tony Bennet singing New York New York, no need to spread the news because there’s nothing new here.

The thing is, New York has beautiful waterfront areas overlooking the Statue of Liberty. It puts on spectacular fireworks shows for 4th of July. Why crush everyone into tight, boxed in Times Square to watch an oversized elevator and call it a celebration? Lame lame lame lame lame.
