Too bad they didn't make a sequel

It's been 10 years. Anyone has a clue why?

reply

The Girl in the Spider's Web, released in 2018.

reply

Not a true sequel.

reply

I disagree. A sequel doesn't have to pick up exactly where it left off in the previous film. They have some of the same characters and same settings. Even though critics panned it, they referred to it as a sequel.

reply

Look up the definition of sequel.

reply

"A published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one."

My reply was intended for the OP, not you.

reply

The Girl in the Spider's Web sucked. It has a different director and a different cast. I do not consider it a true sequel like the original Swedish trilogy had sequels.

reply

Dude died and didn't finish writing the other books he wanted to. Someone else took over and there was some disagreements on proceeding with the franchise.

reply

Not true. He wrote a trilogy.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Girl who Played with Fire
The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

There is a Swedish version of all of them and they are excellent.

The books are also fantastic.

reply

Well, I meant beyond the trilogy (you just mentioned) that were made into movies. My fault for not being clear.

reply

Right. Have you seen the Swedish ones?

reply

Yes. Those are the ones I just watched. I enjoyed them. Good story. Makes me wanna read the books.

reply

I've actually read all three, more than once. They're that good!

reply

I would have loved to see Fincher do the other two!
