Jodie Foster was absolutely terrible in this movie. It was like she mailed in the role. Was she reading from a teleprompter? Not anywhere near her acting abilities in Panic Room and Silence of the Lambs.

shareYeah she sucked, and that attempt at an English accent was woeful. Why did she even need an accent anyway? It came off a bit parodic that she was a villain and therefore had an English accent.
The South African guy though was almost equally as annoying in an overbearing way. If he wasn't overplaying his accent, and it was all natural, then I consider him to be miscast like Foster was.
I thought she was going for French. Her name (Delacourt) and her interactions in French on certain occasions hinted that she was meant to be French, I thought, or of French ancestry.
Either way, Foster was clearly struggling with the accent, and I think affecting it (some of the time...?) was obviously taking up too much mental bandwidth and getting in the way of her being able to focus on her performance.
