Timothée Chalamet is a nepo-baby

Let's face it: Timmy's rise to stardom has been undeniably influenced by nepotism. Born into a family with deep connections in the industry, Timothée Chalamet had a head start that many aspiring talents can only dream of.

But what does this mean for the countless talented individuals who are struggling to break into the spotlight? It means that opportunities for true meritocracy are often overshadowed by the privilege of birthright.

reply

First of all, he didnt rise to stardom, he was given a chance to rise to stardom, which by all accounts now seems wasted.

What it means for countless talented individuals: simple, they can make their own youtube channels or whatever streaming site they choose and make more than they can make as extras in hollywood movies. Thats if they are truly talented.

its also his looks. usually thats the main part hollywood recruiters look for because beauty sales.

there are many actors who dont know how to act and got promoted only because of their looks

Working class, "right-wing" Gary Oldman wresting the Oscar from affluent, pampered liberal hero, Timmy Chalamet, was just delicious.

reply

Did Gary Oldman, the literal God of Acting, really need to wrestle the Oscar from this baby? No fucking way.

reply

Not in that sense, but Chalamet's publicists did their absolute darndest to dig up a long-dead court case from 2001, in which Oldman had been falsely accused of beating up his wife (Oldy was cleared and given sole child custody, and the son said his mother totally fabricated the "incident"). 2018 was the peak of #MeToo, though, and Timmy's camp of vultures hijacked that "believe women" bandwagon all the way to the Oscars. They failed.
