'Archer' renewed for season 11 at FXX

"We are incredibly excited for our eleventhth season and look forward to Archer waking up from his coma and returning to a spy world that has continued without him for the past three years," Casey Willis, executive producer of the series, said of its renewal.

[...] Archer will be the second longest-running series in FX history, behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Though much of its viewership remained intact during its transition from FX to FXX, the show has lost a bit of its steam in recent seasons. Archer: 1999 has only averaged a 0.3 rating in adults 18-49, while the last incarnation, Archer: Danger Island, averaged a 0.4 across eight episodes.

Adam Reed is leaving a show runner or head writer or whatever his title is?

Which begs the question, with creator Adam Reed reportedly leaving after Season 10, will he be back for the next season and beyond?

THOMPSON: "Adam has always said, "I'm out after season 10!" But it's like Godfather III:"…then they pull me back in." He's not with us day to day. In season 10 he wrote four episodes, and then Casey and I came up and got the writers and the rest going. This season he's taken a further step back but is still in. He plotted out the stories with us. At this time, he's only slated to write one episode. His involvement was mainly at the front end of the production. It was Adam who said he wanted Archer to wake up, and for him to be atrophied and not able to perform."

Sounds like Adam's still there, just not participating as much as he used to.

Excited and trepidatious. Adam Reed wrote almost EVERYTHING up until recently, and he's stepping back, so...this could go belly-up FAST. That said, I'm such a big Archer fan that even the weakest seasons are still as good or better (to me) than 98% of other crap, so...I'm willing to give it a shot.

And the show is back, three episodes of the new season have appeared so far.
Nice to see them back in the basic spy mode.
Nothing tremendously new or different yet, but perhaps they are warming up to it.
I don't see a season arc yet either, really, unless it's how Archer works his way back up to being top dog in the agency once again.
But better to have some Archer episodes than nothing.

By the way, are they drawing Lana's face differently? Seems like they simplified it or something. Fewer lines? I can't quite tell, but it seems different somehow.
