I think I love him and Robert Culp as Columbo's quarries the most.

Three was it.

Yeah Robert was good as the ice cream man.

Love Shatner also with one of the first VCRs, drugging his friend then waking him up. LOL.

Think I will watch that episode today. :)

Its intriguing that the producers of Columbo -- and likely Peter Falk, too -- thought so highly of Jack Cassidy and Robert Culp as to cast each man three times in three different years as the killers.

Cassidy and Culp made for a nice contrast. One blond, one brunette. Cassidy was rather "on," flamboyant and preening. Culp played it deadpan, dry, "ice cold."

Sadly, Cassidy died in a home fire(fell asleep while smoking) in the 70's. Culp got to come back in the 80's/90s Columbo, but as the FATHER of a much younger killer(a Fraternity brat, no fun for Columbo at all.)

The "second Columbo series" allowed Patrick McGoohan to come back and claim the title of "most times playing a villain." I also liked how the second Columbo series brought back 70's one-timers like William Shatner and George Hamilton. A "re-visit." But I ALSO liked how the second Columbo series let some NEW players play the killers: great actors like Rip Torn and Dabney Coleman.

I really liked Dabney Coleman as the killer but I think "Columbo Goes to College" (with Robert Culp) was my favorite of the second Columbo series.

I love the interplay between Jack Cassidy and Peter Falk.

Found the links to the individual episodes: they were somewhat buried here because when searching for "Columbo" they did not appear:

Murder by the Book:

Now You See Him:

Publish or Perish:

They are searchable when searching for the title; just not with the word "Columbo."

Jack Cassidy was the best villain!

Even after so many years, it is almost unbelievable that he died at only 49 years old.

Jack Cassidy was great in everything he done.

Although my favourite Columbo Villains were/are Robert Conrad and William Shatner

Absolutely. A rarity when Columbo will verbally assault a suspect. He reads Conrad the riot act here.

The only problem I have with it is when Conrad spills the hot coffee on himself during the struggle & murder. It's game over at the point.

Still highly enjoyable though.
