When they sit on the couch and talk to the camera, who are they supposed to be talking to?
shareActually, I know one of the executive producers and he explained the premise to me. That is, why they talk to the camera and who is filming the interviews.
I don't have the time to explain it all now (it's really very interesting) but check back and I'll explain it on February 21, 2017.

shareA documentary crew, like on "The Office". It's highly unlikely that three households would allow full-time video in their homes, offices, cars, jogs, shopping trips, and vacations for over a decade, but just roll with it and be entertained.
sharei was hoping someONE would look in the camera and say "i hope you got what you need. etc" like when M. Scott just took out his mic and left the fictional documentary.
