The Road Warrior is a vastly superior film to this....

I agree with the view that Mad Max: Fury Road was way better than people expected it to be but simply not the masterpiece being claimed either.

The drama in TRW is better. That's the difference really. I think with Fury Road, George Miller set out to produce the greatest action spectacle of all time, and he may have succeeded in that, as FR is an amazing adrenaline rush.

Drama matters. Do you really care for Immortan Joe's brood maidens as much as you care for the nearly helpless residents of the fuel refinery? Most of the characters in Fury Road are not sympathetic players. There's no guy walking through the desert shackled to a timber, after eating only one finger scrap of Dinki Di that the dog couldn't finish off. Drama.

The dingo was a great character as well with a very expressive face. His death was sad, and so was the "death" of the V8 Interceptor.

Disagree there. Fury Road is basically a bigger and more intense update of The Road Warrior.

Bigger, more intense... but not in my view a better film. Jaws 2 was bigger and more intense than Jaws for that matter. Oh, wait a minute... I said I wouldn't debate it any more. I've stated my opinion as well as I know how, so I better quit now and keep my word.

I mean that it basically did everything The Road Warrior did, but on a larger scale. Mind you, I’m not trying to dissuade you from preferring TRW, but I personally can’t say it has much over Fury Road.

Fury Road was a sneaky attempt to reboot the franchise with a female Mad Max. Imperator Furiosa was the Mad Max character while the Mad Max in name only was her second banana and even less important than the Gyro Captain was in The Road Warrior.
